Imagine spoonfuls of tender seafood enveloped in a luxuriously smooth broth, paired perfectly with fluffy white rice.
Seafood lovers will also delight in the Trucha Con Camarones Al Ajillo, where perfectly grilled trout filets are crowned with garlic-sautéed shrimp, draped in a creamy, aromatic garlic sauce. The Encebollado De Pescado, a beloved Ecuadorian fish soup, offers a fresh, vibrant blend of albacore tuna, cassava, cilantro, and red onions served alongside crunchy popcorn and roasted corn—each bite a dance of textures and bold flavors.
Meat aficionados are well catered for with dishes like the Churrasco and Churasco Steak & Eggs Any Style, where juicy, expertly seasoned steak is served alongside savory accompaniments, delivering satisfying comfort with every forkful. Those seeking something unique should try the Guatita, a traditional Ecuadorian tripe stew that is both rich and remarkably tender.
Appetizers such as the Humita Especialidad de la Casa—a house specialty made with fresh corn and cheese steamed in corn husks—and the golden fried Platanos con Queso (sweet plantains with fresh cheese) are irresistible starters that perfectly set the stage for the main courses.
Compliment your meal with an expertly crafted cocktail—whether it’s a classic Margarita or one of their great house specialties—and enjoy the impeccable service that customers consistently praise. Regulars and newcomers alike speak highly of the staff’s warmth and attentiveness, as well as the genuine, family-like environment fostered by the owner and team.

The PL Lounge's kitchen was closed and I needed food asap. This was super close by, so I got the steak to go. The steak was very flavorfull, the rice was yummy and the fries were good. They were so friendly!!! They have an upstairs where they have karaoke they said. The decor and the tables were made of piping, I loved that too much!!! Highly recommend. Everything looked delicious.
La Humita Express is a GREAT restaurant! The food is amazing (feels like home), the atmosphere is really cozy, and the attention is the best! We ordered two encocados (shrimp and fish), with fresh juices (they tasted so good), a quimbolito, and two coffees. Everything was perfect and tasted really good! This is the BEST Ecuadorian food in Chicago. The waitress was really nice she made sure we were happy and kept checking on us to make sure the food was good! The owner came and greeted us and we spent sometime talking. We really felt as if we were back home :)
This was our first time trying out Ecuatoriano food. It was exquisite and you can definitely taste the freshness. Our waitress was so helpful explaining to us the menu. The restaurant was very clean. We definitely enjoyed this Father’s Day with exceptional food. The staff and owner of the establishment made us feel like family. We will return to this unique and amazing restaurant. If your planning a visit come hungry the portions are huge!!!!
Yummmm. Visited this place again after a few years since we moved further away and SO glad we did!! Had an extremely tasty dinner with wonderfully friendly service. Started with the ceviche mixto and tamal Ecuatoriano, both scrumptious. Then we shared the seco de chivo (lamb was so flavorful and juicy), and got the special of the day, corvina (sea bass) smothered in a creamy sauce with shrimp and octopus… mmmmm. Topped it off with the figs, honey, cheese, and cake dessert which was perfect. Definitely go here, and hey, they also cater for corporate events!! Get on it!!
My wife is Ecuadorian so after moving to America it was hard to find her food, we traveled a couple hours to this place and it was absolutely amazing! The food was great but what makes it stand out is the service, the servers and owner are all very nice, respectful, and make you feel welcome. They speak Spanish and English so anyone can come in. Ceviche is my favorite Ecuadorian food and they did a great job with it
A mouthwatering treat in all senses of the word! From the warm welcome by the restaurant staff to our delicious meals, we are so glad we chose to try this out. We ate a few things from regular menu and a couple specials, like the Casuela de Mariscos (Seafood Soup with Plaintain Base), Cheese Empanadas, and Arroz con Camaron (Shrimp Rice). Just wonderful, thanks for having us!
Truly a hidden gem. Taking a stroll and came across this place, I was expecting a fast food joint but it's soo much more. It's cozy setting is perfect for intimate gatherings and the staff was very welcoming. Ordered the lamb chops which were flavorful and so tender (cooked so I could slice with a butter knife). For dessert, I had what seemed like a layered ice cream and cake and it was so rich, the chocolate ganache was delicious. I certainly can't wait to return they have an interesting sangria selection and another patron's ceviche looked delicious. Very good food!
The place is amazing. I am sad as I only can give five stars…. Waiters very kind. Food IS AMAZING. Fresh, tasty and relatively quick served. Best experience in Chicago if you are looking for authentic Ecuadorean food
